ASPDA and SHPN collaborated on this webinar discussing the 2022 publication Interassociation Consensus Statement on Sports Nutrition Models for the Provision of Nutrition Services from Registered Dietitian Nutritionists in Collegiate Athletics.
Building the team behind the team is a common phrase amongst healthcare and human performance staff in athletics settings. As sports dietetics has grown as a specialty, thoughtful consideration for how to best integrate and utilize the training and skills of a Sports Registered Dietitian Nutritionist are needed.
In this session, Amy Culp, RD, CSSD, LD, CEDRD, and Victoria Lambert, MS, RD, guide webinar participants through key takeaways of the consensus statement and share how to best utilize the information within it to elevate their practice and build a premier sports nutrition service, no matter the size of their university or college.
Learning Objectives:
1. Synthesize the literature regarding best practices in clinical sports nutrition and highlight minimum standards in the primary areas of care for student-athletes in the collegiate setting: clinical sports nutrition, nutrition education, food-service management, and performance nutrition.
2. Utilize the consensus statement to examine and compare the current organizational structure and level of practice and service (their own or that of their staff) to the service levels and models described.
3. Utilize the SOP/SOPP for self-evaluation of knowledge skills and abilities of the practicing sports dietitian.
